St. Paul, MN—State Senator Rob Farnsworth, R-Hibbing, and State Representative Spencer Igo, R-Wabana Township, issued the following statement reacting to news today that Northern Foundry in Hibbing is expected to close sometime near the end of April and that all 91 employees who work there will be laid off.
“Today’s news is a gut punch for Hibbing and the entire region. Our thoughts are with the 91 foundry employees and their families who will be facing uncertainty in the days and weeks ahead. We are committed to working with the United Steelworkers as well as our local, regional, and state partners to make sure these families are fully supported during this difficult time.”
