ST. PAUL – State Rep. Jeff Dotseth, R-Silver Township, co-sponsored a House Concurrent Resolution introduced Tuesday affirming the Minnesota legislature’s commitment to encouraging manufacturers in our state to use Minnesota-mined minerals when manufacturing products.
“This resolution highlights our commitment to supporting Minnesota’s mining industry and underscores the importance of safely and responsibly unleashing our region’s abundant natural resources to make this an even better place to live, work and raise a family,” Dotseth said. “We recognize the overreach in the Biden Administration’s anti-Minnesota mining position and this resolution makes our position crystal clear in supporting this crucial industry. I will continue to advocate for our mining industry and its workers who are so important to our local economy and the health of communities throughout our part of the state.”
The resolution reads in part:
BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the State of Minnesota, the Senate concurring, that Minnesota's manufacturers of technologically advanced products, and companies that purchase them, including energy utilities, are strongly encouraged to conduct research into the origin of the products and materials that are part of their supply chains and to endeavor to support products made using Minnesota-mined minerals and that the State of Minnesota support research into technologies that, as with the taconite pelletizing process, enable economically marginal mineral resources to be fully utilized.
