EssayEach applicant must submit a 500-word essay explaining why they want to participate in the 2025 High School Page Program. Teachers and counselors should encourage applicants to take sufficient time to write a thoughtful and reflective essay that demonstrates interest and expectations. While the essay alone does not determine selection it is a very important criterion.
Letter of RecommendationIn addition to the application and essay, students are required to include one letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor or academic advisor.
Participant SelectionThe High School Page Program is selective meaning not all applicants are accepted. The selection process takes into account the quality of each application and accompanying essay and letter; the geographical distribution of applicants – all regions of the state must be represented to the greatest extent possible – and the weekly availability of applicants. Every effort is made to insure that the Pages represent the diversities of Minnesota.
Participant NotificationStudents chosen to serve as High School Page Program participants and alternates will be notified of their selection, by mail, by mid November. Along with their letters of acceptance, participants will receive their weekly placement and further program information and forms.
SchedulingApplicants should not over-state their availability to increase their chances of selection. An accurate appraisal is in the best interest of the applicant and the program. Once a student has committed to attending the program, weekly scheduling changes are rarely if ever granted for extracurricular activities or other prior commitments.
Our typical weekly program schedule is as follows:
