Agriculture; children and families; education; environment and energy; housing; military and veterans affairs; state government; and transportation.

That is the list of omnibus finance bills passed off the House Floor this week.

Throw in Wednesday night’s State of the State address by Gov. Tim Walz and it’s no wonder there were a lot of heavy eyelids around the Capitol Friday.

But next week promises little reprieve, beginning at 9 a.m. Monday when the House Ways and Means Committee will consider HF2 that would provide workers up to 12 weeks of paid family leave and up to an additional 12 weeks of paid medical leave.

Later in the day the full House is scheduled to debate HF100, the omnibus cannabis bill, which would legalize the recreational use of marijuana.

Other major omnibus bills, such as taxes, public safety and health, will likely be up for votes in the days following.

Have a good weekend and here’s a look back at what you might have missed.
