With just over one month until the 2025 legislative session begins, House members now know the committees they will serve on when their work officially begins Jan. 14.

House leaders released most committee assignments Wednesday, filling the 23 committees and one division with an equal number of DFL and Republican members as the parties have agreed to share control of the body that is expected to be evenly split at 67-67, pending legal challenges. House Rules and Legislative Administration Committee membership is yet to be announced.

Each panel will have co-chairs, which were announced before Thanksgiving by caucus speaker-designates — current House Minority Leader Lisa Demuth (R-Cold Spring) and current House Speaker Melissa Hortman (DFL-Brooklyn Park).

The House Ways and Means Committee will be the largest, with 28 members, and is to be co-chaired by Rep. Paul Torkelson (R-Hanska) and Rep. Zack Stephenson (DFL-Coon Rapids).

The House Taxes Committee, which is to be co-chaired by Rep. Aisha Gomez (DFL-Mpls) and Rep. Greg Davids (R-Preston), and the House Education Finance Committee, co-chaired by Rep. Ron Kresha (R-Little Falls) and Rep. Cheryl Youakim (DFL-Hopkins), will each have 24 members.

The health (22 members), public safety (20 members), and commerce (20 members) committees also have large rosters while most of the others range from 12 to 18 members.
