House Passes Technical Tax Corrections Bill

Saint Paul, MN. – Today, the Minnesota House of Representatives passed HF 2757, legislation making various corrections to 2023’s Tax bill. The corrections made in the bill include:

Amendment to the state standard deduction law to update the standard deduction amount to account for inflation adjustments since 2019.

Alignment of the definition of Tribal Nation in statewide local housing aid with the definition used in the Tribal Nation aid program. Allowing any of the 11 federally recognized Tribes in Minnesota to apply for statewide local housing aid.

Authorization of local sales tax approved by voters in Beltrami County.

“Last session, Democrats delivered the biggest tax cut in state history, helping working families, homeowners and renters, and seniors experience economic stability. This session, we are taking decisive action early to be effective and responsive by passing a Technical Tax Corrections Bill,” said Rep. Gomez (DFL - Minneapolis), Chair of the House Taxes Committee and bill author. “I’m proud of our team for pulling this important bill together so quickly, ensuring that as many working and middle class Minnesotans experience the full benefit of the 2023 Tax bill as possible.
