Saint Paul, Minn. — House Majority Leader Ryan Winkler issued the following statement about a mass shooting at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas.
“I am horrified by the loss of innocent life in Uvalde, Texas and I am sending my deepest condolences to everyone impacted by this tragedy. I want to thank the law enforcement professionals who responded and prevented further loss of life. The United States is the only nation that allows these kinds of senseless killings to happen over and over again. Too many young lives have been cut short, from Columbine to Virginia Tech, from Sandy Hook to Stoneman Douglas, and now an elementary school in Uvalde. Gun violence is a public health and public safety crisis, and our society should be treating it with the seriousness and urgency it deserves.”
