House DFLers file Health and Human Services minority report
St. Paul, Minn. – In advance of the Health and Human Services omnibus finance bill arrival on the House floor, Rep. Erin Murphy, DFL-St. Paul, presented the DFL caucus’ minority report.
A minority report reflects the thinking and values of the members of the House in opposition to the majority position or action on a given issue area. The House DFL’s minority report presents its path forward to the people of Minnesota.
“This report provides Minnesotans with a clear view of what the DFL stands for in health care. All Minnesotans deserve access to affordable, quality health care for themselves and their loved ones. This includes child care, which is too expensive or inaccessible for many working families,” Murphy said. “Our values are reflected in this report and they are the same values so many of our neighbors share. We can make affordable health care a reality; this vision is the first step toward that goal.”
- Childcare Crisis: Minnesota faces a statewide childcare crisis, and DFLers are committed to increasing investments, standardizing regulations and reducing burdensome paperwork requirements.
- Opioid Epidemic: Resources to battle widespread opioid misuse are needed now. Passing an opioid bill with the penny-a-pill provision to hold Big Pharma accountable is a high priority.
- Prescription Drugs: For too long, pharmaceutical companies have strong-armed consumers into paying indefensible prices for life saving drugs. Empowering the Attorney General and legal professionals in our state to protect Minnesotans from price gouging allows consumers to regain their voice in personal health care decisions.
- More Options: Allowing Minnesotans to buy into MinnesotaCare – a bipartisan solution that has worked for 25 years – gives consumers from around the state the option of an affordable, broad network of care the individual market currently lacks.
