SAINT PAUL – Yesterday, the Hmong Cultural Center in Saint Paul, MN was vandalized with white supremacist graffiti. The Minnesota Asian Pacific (MAP) Legislative Caucus released the following statement:
“The Minnesota Asian Pacific (MAP) Caucus is saddened to learn that the Hmong Cultural Center was vandalized just days after it hosted its first visitors. We condemn such acts and extend our full support to the Hmong community and neighbors. We are deeply troubled that words and slogans associated with a white supremacist movement were found on the storefront’s vandalized panels. We call on Minnesotans to condemn such acts of cowherdess and bigotry. The Hmong Cultural Center’s work respects everyone, makes our community safer, and fosters a safe space for learning. Please consider donating to help out the Hmong Cultural Center at hmongcc.org/donate.html.”
The current members of the MAP Caucus include Chair Rep. Tou Xiong (53A), Vice Chair Rep. Kaohly Her (64A), Senator Foung Hawj (67), Rep. Samantha Vang (40B), and Rep. Jay Xiong (67B).
