St. Paul, MN - Minneapolis and St. Paul educators recently voted to go on strike, and will officially begin the strike on March 8th if a deal is not reached. Part of Rep. Tou Xiong’s (DFL - Maplewood) district is in a St. Paul school district, and he released the following statement in support of the educators:
“Our teachers have faced immense pressure over the last few years, and the current underfunding of our schools is failing our students,” said Rep. Xiong. “I stand with the educators and encourage the school districts to meet their reasonable requests which are necessary to fully serve our students and families. For my part I will continue to push for increased education funding at the legislature, especially in light of the recent budget forecast which gives the state ample funds for education.”
