Shakopee, MN - Today, State Representative Brad Tabke (DFL - Shakopee) joined local leaders for the ribbon cutting of the new pedestrian and bike bridge over Highway 169. The bridge was a result of the 2020 Jobs & Local Projects bill, supported by Rep. Tabke, which invested $2 million into the project.
“Thank you to all the city staff, construction workers, and engineers that made today possible,” said Rep. Tabke. “This bridge started as an idea from Bruce Loney while I was Mayor of Shakopee, and we were able to fund a large portion in my first term at the Minnesota House. I am so happy to see the completion of this important bridge for the Southbridge and Dean Lakes neighborhoods, connecting them to Quarry Lake Park, jobs in the industrial park, and the major trail systems along the Minnesota River.”
The project first broke ground in April of this year. The bipartisan 2020 bill included other local projects such as the McMahon Lake flood mitigation, household hazardous waste cleanup in Scott County, and improvements to the Highway 13/Dakota and Yosemite interchange. Rep. Tabke has since championed the successful 2023 jobs and infrastructure bill, which funded additional projects for Shakopee and the surrounding region.
