Friends and neighbors, The 93rd Minnesota Legislature concluded its most consequential two-year biennium in state history on Monday, May 20. After many years of divided government and Republican gridlock that prevented meaningful progress for our state, House DFLers got the job done through a host of accomplishments that will benefit Minnesotans for generations to come. This is my last session as your House Representative. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve you, and want to thank you for six incredible years of fighting for progress. You can watch my departing remarks on the House Floor here. After two long years of fighting for fair treatment and pay for our rideshare drivers, we struck a deal to create the strongest rideshare worker protection bill in the country. The bill passed and was signed into law Governor Walz. I want to thank my Senate co-author, Senator Fateh, for his unwavering dedication to this bill, and the drivers for showing up to countless committee hearing and telling their stories. Without you, we wouldn’t have been able to do this. This was a labor of love, and we won. I’m incredibly proud of what we accomplished these past two years. In 2024, we worked hard to pass to improve the lives of all Minnesotans:
And so much more. Last year, I fought for and passed the PROMISE Act, which will deliver millions in grants and loans to small businesses in our area, including those that were adversely affected by civil unrest after the murder of George Floyd. This year, we expanded the PROMISE Act eligibility to the uptown area, so that more of our cultural corridors can benefit from the program. Applications for South Minneapolis will open soon, so if you are a small business owner, keep an eye on mnpromiseact.org for updates and information on how to apply. The amount of work we accomplished for Minnesotans was significant, however there is more work to do to ensure our state is the best place to live, work, earn an education, and raise a family. Thank you for the great honor of representing our vibrant community in the Minnesota House of Representatives. I could not have done this work without your support, advocacy, and continued feedback on matters that mean the most to you. Though I will no longer be your House Representative, I will never stop working for my community. I will see you soon.
In solidarity, Rep. Hodan Hassan |
