St. Paul, MN – Friday’s nearly unanimous Veterans and Military Affairs Omnibus Bill passage is a sign that Minnesota’s veterans may be getting the care they deserve.
The bill provides $24.8 million in bonus payments for gold star families and veterans who served after September 11, 2001, and provides $26 million for Veterans Homes enhancements in Bemidji, Montevideo and Preston.
“Finally, after years of waiting, veterans can breathe a sigh of relief,” Representative Brian Pfarr, R-Le Sueur, said. “We need bipartisan support for these bills that honor America’s heroes and provide for them when they need it.”
Pfarr is s a retired Colonel in the Minnesota National Guard. While serving, he commanded a Brigade of 1,800 soldiers. He has long been a supporter of veteran and military resources, including the National Guard Readiness Centers legislation that he co-signed earlier this year.
