SAINT PAUL, Minn. - Yesterday, the Minnesota House and Senate unveiled the latest proposal for a statewide capital investment bill, built largely on the bipartisan agreement reached on the issue last session. The initial proposal includes critical investment in the City of Savage for road and bridge improvements, which have been championed by Rep. Jess Hanson (DFL - Burnsville).
“Working with Savage City Administrator, Brad Larson, we have identified the Quentin Avenue underpass as an ideal project for state funding,” said Rep. Hanson. “The investment we requested will go towards widening the underpass, which is a constant safety concern for drivers and presents future congestion issues considering the Highway 13 upgrades coming soon. I’m thankful to have our district’s needs included in this bill, and look forward to pushing this funding over the finish line.”
The Quentin Avenue underpass supports an out-of-use railroad bridge built in 1941. Local traffic studies claim that up to 50 vehicles could be stopped at once due to traffic volume increases from Highway 13. The bill will be heard in the House Capital Investment Committee tomorrow.
