Legislative Update

Dear neighbors,

As we prepare to celebrate Easter in a couple weeks, I wanted to share something deeply disheartening. Last week, I placed a cross and a sign displaying the Ten Commandments outside the Capitol—a simple display meant to serve as a reminder of the Easter holiday, Christian values, and a testament to the First Amendment’s protection of religious freedom.

On Monday, the cross was torn down, and the Ten Commandments sign was gone.

This act is not only disappointing but feels like an attack on Christian values. After the controversy surrounding the Satanic display inside the Capitol over Christmas, we wanted to ensure that Christian values were represented. Since the indoor space was already booked, we said “ok, let do the display outside instead.”

Despite this setback, I am very proud to be a part of building it and I am incredibly grateful for the support from fellow members, and I’m pleased to share that another cross is being built to take its place.

Adding to the frustration, a sign was placed inside the Capitol on Wednesday that read: "Thank you, Governor Walz, for not standing in the way of spreading Satanism inside the State Capitol Building." It is deeply troubling that such a message is allowed to stand, while a simple Christian display is torn down.

Religious freedom should apply to all faiths. Let’s stand strong in our beliefs and continue to advocate for fairness and respect for all expressions of faith.
