SAINT PAUL – State Representative Roger Skraba, R-Ely, issued the following statement today reacting to news that Pulsar Helium has discovered helium concentrations of up to 12.4% at the Topaz Project site near Babbitt.
“This is outstanding news for the region as we continue to look at ways to diversify our local economy,” said Skraba. “I look forward to working with state regulators to make sure that helium drilling can proceed here in Northern Minnesota safely and effectively. Helium is an incredibly important gas that is needed for a variety of modern products, and I am hopeful that we can source this gas and process it right here in the Northland in the very near future.”
According to Pulsar, the Topaz Project is believed to be home to one of the world’s highest-content helium occurrences.
