ST. PAUL, Minn. —State Representative Roger Skraba, R-Ely, announced today that six nursing homes in the Northland have received a second round of direct payments totaling $1,190,529 million to be used to address outstanding debts and facility improvements. It is part of a statewide nursing home package totaling $300 million, championed by House Republicans and approved on an overwhelming bipartisan basis during the 2023 legislative session.
Rep. Skraba spoke about the importance of providing aid for facilities that have struggled financially for years.
“Nursing homes and long-term care facilities provide a critical and necessary service for seniors and families in our communities,” said Skraba. “While the road to approving this aid was a bumpy one, I am proud that House Republicans held DFL majorities and Gov. Walz accountable to make sure that this critically important funding was included in last year’s budget. It goes to show that when we set aside our differences and focus on delivering for Minnesotans, we can accomplish great things for our communities.”
