ST. PAUL — State Representative Roger Skraba, R-Ely, released the following statement after the second report in a week from the Office of the Legislative Auditor (OLA) revealed rampant disregard for state policies and program procedures by Walz administration officials, leading to hundreds of millions of dollars in fraud.
“Minnesotans are generous people who are willing to offer a helping hand to provide assistance to those in need,” said Skraba. “Unfortunately, we have seen time and again examples of fraudsters abusing public programs and taking advantage of our goodwill. Thursday’s report shows that the Walz Administration failed to properly investigate legitimate warning signs and claims that would have prevented this massive fraud scheme from ever happening. Minnesota taxpayers deserve better from their government, and it is my hope that much needed oversight and balance will return to St. Paul so that we can make sure fraud, waste, and abuse on this scale never happens again.”
