Dear Neighbors, I hope you had a chance to get outside over the weekend with the thawing temperatures! It’s hard to believe we’re nearing the end of February. It’s been a whirlwind of activity in St. Paul since the legislature got lawfully underway earlier this month. I’m proud to be serving on the House Human Services Finance and Policy, Housing Finance and Policy, and Legacy Finance committees over the next two years. All of these assignments provide me with the opportunity to take a deep dive into the existing structures and how we can improve them to keep Brooklyn Park and Osseo residents and working families moving forward. ![]() What I had hoped could be a few weeks of productivity from my colleagues on the other side of the aisle, I’m disappointed to see the partisan agenda unfolding. From attacks on reproductive health care access to delaying and even repealing the Paid Family and Medical Leave law, we’re seeing a slew of dangerous bills aimed to harm our most vulnerable populations. I believe we’re stronger together, and I’m always focused on that mindset when we make good policy to lift everyone up. That’s why I’m authoring bills to ensure our elders are cared for, protect tenants’ rights, and reduce our reliance on landfills. You can find a comprehensive list of all the legislation I’m working on my official House of Representatives website. We had a powerful community conversation on immigration safety last week. A heartfelt thank you to all the incredible panelists: Representative and Immigration Attorney Sandra Feist, Attorney General Keith Ellison, Brooklyn Park Police Chief Mark Bruley, North Hennepin Community College President Rolando Garcia, Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty, the office of U.S. Rep. Kelly Morrison, immigration lawyers, and all community members who joined us recently for an important discussion on immigration safety. If you missed it, you can watch a recording of the conversation here. ![]() To our community members who attended, asked thoughtful questions, and engaged in meaningful dialogue—thank you for showing up and making your voices heard! Your advocacy and participation make all the difference.
Community Visits I’m proud to represent the most diverse district in Minnesota! Huge thanks to the staff at Brooklyn Middle STEAM School for hosting an incredible Multicultural Fair! Your hard work brought our community together to celebrate culture, creativity, and connection. ![]()
I had a wonderful tour and insights from the incredible team at Hennepin County Recycling and Transfer Center in Brooklyn Park! I’m excited to be the lead author of a bill that will redirect previously allocated funds to a state-of-the-art recycling recovery facility. ![]()
Thank you, Superintendent of Osseo School District Dr. Kim Hiel and your team, for a fantastic tour of our district’s schools! Quality education is the foundation of strong, thriving communities. I’m committed to ensuring our teachers and schools have the full support they need—so they can focus on what matters most: educating our kids! ![]()
