SAINT PAUL, Minn. – Representative Huldah Momanyi-Hiltsley (DFL-Brooklyn Park) applauded new investments headed to Brooklyn Park through the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development to support local community and economic development on Minnesota’s main streets. A grant of over $194,000 was awarded to the African Career Education & Resources (ACER) Organization in Rep. Momanyi-Hiltsley’s district. ACER is an issue-based, community-driven organization founded in 2008 by a group of African Immigrants to help voter and civic engagement, fair and just housing, health equity, and economic development.
“ACER is doing incredible work in our community,” said Rep. Momanyi-Hiltsley. “I’m grateful to see the state of Minnesota investing in initiatives that lift up all of our neighbors in Brooklyn Park because we are all stronger together. I look forward to continuing the work to get our area the support they deserve to thrive.”
Businesses and organizations that apply for and receive funding can use the funds for property repair or renovation, building construction, landscaping and street scaping. Since 2021, more than 600 businesses supported by Main Street grantees have raised $696 million in matching funds. The awards have also helped create or retain more than 8,700 jobs and increase local tax bases by almost $369 million.
Representative Huldah Momanyi-Hiltsley is serving her first term in the Minnesota House of Representatives. House District 38A encompasses Brooklyn Park and Osseo.
