MINUTES

Representative Mariani, Chair of Committee on Education Policy, called the meeting to order at 10:03 A.M. on February 28, 2013 in the Basement Hearing Room of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Rep. Mariani moved that H.F. 261 be recommended to pass and be re-referred to the House Floor

Rep. Newton presented H.F. 261 (Newton); School Districts allowed to begin the school year before Labor Day

Representative Sondra Erickson moved to amend H.F. 261, (see attached amendment H0261DE1). THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED

Rep. Mariani ammends his motion so that H.F. 261, as amended, be recommended to pass and be re-referred to the Commerce Committee. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Rep. Davnie moved that H.F. 826 be recommended to pass and be re-referred to the Committee on Civil Law.

Rep. Davnie presented H.F. 826 (Davnie); Safe and supportive schools provided for, rulemaking authorized, and money appropriated

Rep. Davnie moved to amend H.F. 826, (see attached amendment H0826A30).

Rep. Davnie moved to incorporate an oral amendment as follows:

Page 6, line 14, delete “refer” and insert “provide information about available community resources to” and delete “to connecting and mental”

Page 6, line 14, delete “or others health services”

The committee voted on amendment H0826A30, as amended. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

The meeting was recessed at 10:44 A.M.
