CLEARBROOK, MN—Rep. Matt Grossell, R-Clearbrook, issued the following statement regarding Monday's decision from the Minnesota Court of Appeals regarding Line 3. While additional information was ordered in order to complete the final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS), the court rejected "most of the relators' assertions of error" relating to other aspects of the FEIS.
"The court's ruling dismissed nearly every challenge brought forward by radical environmental groups to block the Line 3 Replacement project and asked for an additional environmental impact statement," said Rep. Grossell. "This ruling should not stop this important project that will bring good-paying jobs to our area, increase our tax base, and will make the transportation of oil through our state safer. Line 3 has been subject to an unprecedented review process and I hope once the environmental impact statement is finalized it will move forward without further delay."
According to the ruling, the Minnesota Department of Commerce has 60 days under state statute (page 9) to "prepare an adequate EIS" and fix the issue identified by the court.
