St. Paul, MN – Representative Matt Grossell (R-Clearbrook) is fed up with criminals bouncing out of jail without any real accountability. Because of this frustration, Grossell, a former law enforcement officer, is backing H.F. 4252, the Bail Abatement Nonprofit Exclusion Act.
The BANE Act was created in response to organizations like the Minnesota Freedom Fund, an organization that paid $10 million in bail for approximately 610 Minnesotans.
“Our criminal justice system provides bail as the first step in personal accountability,” Grossell said. “By using celebrities to pay for the bail of violent criminals, they are free to offend again and are not held accountable for their actions.”
The Minnesota Freedom Fund has been famously funded by now Vice President Kamala Harris, Seth Rogan and others.
